Why Valentine is Celebrated?

Valentine is celebrated in remembrance of a saint known as Valentine. He used to live in Rome, yes which wasn’t built in a day, you got it right. In the 3rd century, Romans were either forcefully or by willingness changing to Christianity. Rome’s emperor was not a Christian, he was a pagan and wanted to restrict Christians.

So, he deployed a lot of strict rules for them. The emperor Claudius II also believed that soldiers should be completely devoted to the nation, so he barred them from marrying anyone. That’s when Saint Valentine started these soldier’s marriages in secret as per Christian rituals citing the value of love in life. He was known for love, later he was jailed for this act. Even in jail, he shared the message of love and cured blindness of jailors daughter. Unfortunately, he was executed on 14th Feb 270. From there world started celebrating 14th Feb as valentine day.
